This bra is not normal, can be screened for 1 hour after wearing breast cancer

According to a report by the American Cancer Society, an estimated 266,120 women in the United States have newly diagnosed breast cancer this year. According to estimates for 2016, the average person needs to pay $60,000 to $134,000 for treatment and care. However, after bringing hundreds of thousands of dollars in spending and unquantifiable emotional stress to them and their families, the American Cancer Society estimates that 41,000 women will give up this disease this year.

These numbers are so shocking, but with these numbers, we can't understand the damage that breast cancer can do to women and their loved ones. Unfortunately, Julián Ríos Cantú, co-founder and CEO of Higia Technologies, is very familiar with this feeling. His mother is a survivor of two breast cancers.

Cantú is now only 19 years old, his mother diagnosed breast cancer for the first time when he was 8 years old, and his mother's second diagnosis was biased, initially due to high breast density due to standard screening. Make the tumor blurred. The result is that she finally lost two breasts, but now lives healthy.

Cantú said: "At that moment, I realized that a woman with personal insurance and preventive mentality is still the result. For most women in developing countries, the result may not be mastectomy, but death."

Cantú decided to find a way to increase the value of women's lives and help them identify early breast abnormalities and prevent cancer to ensure maximum survival.

To this end, Cantú designed EVA, a biosensing bra insert that uses thermal sensing and artificial intelligence to identify abnormal temperatures in the breast that may be associated with tumor growth. Cantú said that EVA is not only a simple self-screening tool, but also fills the gap in current screening techniques.

Currently, women's choices in breast cancer screening are quite limited. They can choose breast ultrasound (which is less specific than other methods), or breast MRI (higher cost), but the standard option is annual or biennial mammography for women 45 years of age and older. The method requires visiting a doctor, manually operated by a technician, and the breast must be exposed to low levels of radiation for X-ray scanning of the breast tissue.

Although this method is relatively reliable, there are still some key shortcomings. Dr. Richard Kaszynski, PhD, medical consultant at Higia Technologies, said: "We need a practical solution to diagnose breast cancer earlier. Mammography needs to be done. Weigh, because of your exposure, you will feel uncomfortable and anxious."

Dr. Kaszynski continues that these annual or biennial mammograms will leave a gap in care, and cancer may have time to grow unimpeded.

In addition, mammograms are not as reliable in detecting tumors in dense breast tissue. Intensive breast tissue is more common among young women, and breast X-rays in 40% of women worldwide and 80% of Asian women mask the presence of tumors in the breast.

By using a non-invasive thermal sensor, EVA is able to collect calorie data from a variety of breast densities that make breast examinations easier and more frequent for women of all ages.

Here's how it works:

First, the user inserts the thermal sensor cup (with three standard sizes) into the sports bra, opens the EVA-related application, and follows the instructions, waiting 60 minutes for the device to collect thermal data. EVA will send the data to the application via Bluetooth, and the AI analysis results provide the user with an evaluation basis. If the EVA believes that user data may be abnormal, the application will advise the user to follow up the steps for further screening with a healthcare professional.

For user data, Higia Technologies has taken steps to include advanced encryption of its servers and HIPAA-compliant privacy infrastructure.

So far, EVA has undergone clinical trials in Mexico. According to the test results, the sensitivity of the device is 87.9% and the specificity is 81.7%. In Mexico, the company has sold 5,000 units and plans to begin shipping the first few hundred units by October of this year.

EVA has won numerous awards since its inception and was voted by Forbes Magazine of Mexico as one of the “30 Most Promising Companies in 2018”. EVA also received $120,000 in financing from Y Combinator.

The company is seeking to enter the US market and plans to begin clinical trials with Stanford Medicine X in October 2018, which should last for about a year. After these trials, Higia Technologies will continue to seek FDA approval to use the medical device as an insert for sale in hospitals and then to become a device that can be used at home.

The final pricing for the device has not yet been determined, but Cantú said he wants the product to be as affordable and easy to use as possible, so it could be the first choice for women in developing countries who are in desperate need of preventive cancer screening.
