The new type of fertilizer is hot, but we have no unified definition of it, which has become a common problem in the research and business circles. Today, this is not only an academic debate, but also a big issue related to the innovation direction of China's fertilizer industry. For a flood of product innovation, should we draw a red line?

Party A: Red line for new fertilizers

Although the term new fertilizer is well known in the industry, its definition and definition can be described as diverse. It seems that this seems to be only an academic issue, but it is not. The new fertilizer has at least three effects due to the lack of a top-level design:

As an agricultural expert said, the current situation is that the standard follows the development of the enterprise, and the company comes out with a new product. For this reason, a new standard is set up separately, and the role that the standard should play to lead the industry is lost.

There is no uniform design at the industry level for new fertilizers, which indicates that it is promoting the prosperity of the industry, but in fact there are many bubbles in the middle. The most outstanding performance is that because there is no framed scope, the extension and function of fertilizers are now infinitely expanded. Various so-called new fertilizers are flooding the market, enterprises are struggling with vicious competition, and farmers are even confused.

The false prosperity of new fertilizers is not worth encouraging, and new fertilizers are not a panacea for all diseases. The problems faced by traditional fertilizers today are not the products themselves, but the agrochemical services at the use level have not kept up. At present, it is necessary to pour cold water on the new type of fertilizer. It is imperative to establish a rule and set a red line for the new fertilizer.

Party B: Let the market give the answer

The meaning of standards is to regulate the development of an industry, but the timing of the introduction of standards is very important. If the nodes that have just started in an industry are introduced, the standards will often become the embarrassment of industry innovation. The new fertilizer is currently at this stage. The author believes that instead of entangled in what is a new type of fertilizer, it is better to let go of the industry and give a certain trial and error period to product innovation, and the market will give an answer instead of trying to force a new line of fertilizer.

Product innovation is the primary driving force for development in any industry, and the fertilizer industry is no exception. At present, the most fundamental reason why new fertilizers are in the ascendant is that traditional fertilizers can't solve some of the real problems facing Chinese agriculture. This topic comes down to one sentence: how to balance food security and sustainable agricultural development.

The traditional fertilizer utilization rate is too low, causing a series of problems such as high agricultural input costs, soil degradation and negative environmental effects. To solve these problems, we need to mobilize the innovation vitality of the whole industry and let various elements participate in this work.

Only in this way will it be possible to find a solution to the problem. If we are eager to set standards at this node, there is at least the question: Can the existing technical research on fertilizers ensure that we can develop new and feasible fertilizer standards, otherwise how can we guarantee that we will not accidentally hurt some real? Innovation? An unscientific standard will eventually stifle the innovation of an industry.

Problems arising in development may be solved by means of development. The new fertilizers are progressing as a whole, releasing innovative hands and feet, allowing various new technologies and new products to be tested in the market and farmland. This is the best standard.
