Eight major technical points for raising sheep in summer

First, manage the sheep house.

In the summer, the sheep house should do a good job in preventing heatstroke and cooling. If the sheep house is a flat tile roof, white lime can be brushed or sunshade can be covered; air convection windows can be found at the bottom of the south and north walls of the sheep house; sun shade canopy can be installed on the sun-facing side of the sheep house. In addition, screens should be installed in the sheep house to prevent the entry of fly mosquitoes. Whether it is a flat raising method or an elevated method of raising sheep, in order to prevent the waste of forage grass, it is necessary to set a feed trough.

Second, increase nutrition.

In the hot climate season, due to the decline in the feed intake of sheep, the number of feedings needs to be increased. In addition, the nutrient concentration of the diet should be increased to further enhance the sheep's resistance to the high temperature environment. Adult sheep feed about 200 grams per day; newly weaned lambs feed about 100 grams of concentrate each day. Each hundred grams of concentrate, the cake should account for 25%, if you add cotton cake or bread cake, need to go through detoxification treatment (soaked in water for 24 hours, then rinse with water).

Third, feed forage grass.

In the summer, it is advisable to use sheep with good palatability and high nutritional value (such as green pea stalks, alfalfa, etc.), especially lambs that have been weaned and pregnant ewes. Feeding forage should be dry and green, and hay is the best choice for hay, hawthorn vines, and peanut vines. When feeding, first feed hay and feed grass to prevent sheep from greedily eating and overeating pastures with high water content. Produce diarrhea and bloating disease. In addition, do not feed on rotten spoiled forage.

Fourth, grazing night feeding.

For pastoral herds, early and late grazing should be carried out. Before 9 o’clock in the morning, the sheep must rest in a circle; after 5 o'clock in the afternoon, they go out to graze. In the summer, the best night feeding is implemented. The feeding time should be about 10 o'clock in the evening. It is not good for the sheep to rest and digest when it is too late. Pay attention not only to the amount of feed but also to the quality.

Fifth, increase water to make up salt.

During the hot season in summer, the sheep’s drinking water basin should be kept clean and free for drinking. Add 0.2 grams of salt per kilogram of sheep weight to maintain the body's acid-base balance.

Six, summer cooling.

In summer, we must do summer cooling work, pay attention to the shade, avoid direct sunlight, take shearing and strengthen ventilation at the same time in order to facilitate heat dissipation on the sheep's body surface; we must also create the enclosure environment and playground environment suitable for sheep rest; make sheep only in high temperature environment. Can maintain the body's physiological function, enhance resistance and maintain normal production.

Seven, pest control and deworming.

1 immunization. Lamb dysentery can be prevented by subcutaneous injection of 2-3 ml of Lactobacillus plantarum vaccine to the inside of the leg 20-30 days and 10-20 days after the pregnancy. For those sheep who have not been injected with a foot-and-mouth disease vaccine or a sheeppox vaccine, it is necessary to refill the vaccine.

2 regularly deworming. After entering the summer, it is necessary to inject avermectin into the sheep at a dose of 0.02 ml per kilogram in order to repel the insects both inside and outside the body and to inject five commensal strains of sheep anaerobic disease regularly.

Eight, prevention and treatment of diseases.

1 Prevent diarrhea. When sheep are diarrhea, they can take orally 2 80,000 units of gentamycin in the morning on an empty stomach and they can take 2 days.

2 Prevention of sheep sores. When a sore occurs, the wound is washed with 0.1%-0.2% potassium permanganate solution, and then coated with 2% gentian violet, sulfoglycerol, 50% oxytetracycline ointment or penicillin, nitrofurazone ointment and so on, 1-2 times per day. Usually use less hard feed to prevent wound infections, and timely isolation of diseased sheep found. Shelters and utensils are disinfected with 2% caustic soda or 10% lime milk or 20% of planted grey water.

3 summer anti-black disease. When a sheep has black cattle, it is necessary to move the sheep's collar to Gaozao, and use the serum against Clostridium novyi early to prevent subcutaneous or intramuscular injection of 10-15 ml. For diseased sheep with slow course, intramuscular injection of 800,000-1.6 million units of penicillin, 2 times a day; can also be intravenous or intramuscular injection of Clostridium serovarnividei serum, 50-80 ml each time, used 2 times.
