Advances in research on the effects of fermented raw materials on bacterial cellulose production
Bacterial cellulose (abbreviated as BC) is a porous nano-scale biopolymer with a three-dimensional network structure, and its fiber diameter and width are only 1/100~1/1000 of cotton fiber. Compared with plant cellulose, BC has high purity, degree of polymerization and crystallinity, good water retention, gas permeability, biocompatibility and degradability. Among the bacterial strains producing bacteria, Acetobacter xylinum has become a model strain because of its strong adaptability and high cellulose yield. The development of bacterial cellulose industrialization has always faced the problems of high cost and low yield. Therefore, studying the metabolism of bacteria and the influence of culture materials on BC production in the fermentation process is the necessary research direction for the future development of bacterial cellulose industrialization. This paper reviews the bacterial cellulose fermentation preparation from bacterial cellulose fermentation raw materials, especially carbon sources, nitrogen sources and additives, and forecasts its future development.
